i have windows xp home edition and i have 3 other user accounts on limited
accounts. What i would like to know is? When someone with a limited account
removes icons from desktop and programmes from their start menue it also
removes the same things from all user accounts.
how do i stop this from happening. and if need be step by step on how do i
set it up so it no longer removes things from administrators and other
accounts.

You may find the following a possible solution:

Hi,

The way user accounts work involves both personal (user) data, and shared
(All Users) data. Open Windows Explorer to C:\Documents and Settings, under
here you will find account folders for each system user, the administrator,
all users, and possibly a few others depending on configuration.

If an item is in the All User's folder, then any action on it by any user
will affect everyone. To avoid this, move or copy the icon to only the
accounts that need it. The desktop and programs menu for everyone are
located here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start menu\Programs
