user account logs off

My mothers user account logs off when there is no activity after about a
minute or so. I thought maybe a virus or malware was at fault but i regulary
scan for that so i dont know what is wrong. When i say it logs off, it goes
to the log on screen.

Are you sure it is loggin off completely or is it the screen saver with
passwi=ord protection box? goto your display settings and choose screen
saver. After the "wait" box there will be a check box for "On resume
password protect" If this box is checked it means your moms screen saver
came on and now she has to enter her password to get back on. Uncheck
the box to turn this feature off. If this isnt the feature you refer to
please follow up.
