User Account Logs Off

One of our Senior Members has a computer running XP Home. She has three
accounts set up, one for herself and two for the grandchildren.

When she is in her account and there is no activity the computer logs her
out of her account. I can't find any reason why this should happen. Any
thoughts please?

Right click on a blank area of the desktop and select Properties. Go to the
Screen Saver tab and see if the the setting "On resume, password protect" is
checked. If it is, that is likely the cause. If not, click the Power
button on that tab. In the Power Options Properties go to the Advanced tab.
See if "Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby" is checked.

It is most likely one of those two settings that is causing her to need to
re-enter her password after a period of no activity.

Thanks for the reply Tom but none of those apply.

The account just drops out and then the computer goes back to the desktop
where the three accounts are shown. She does not use a password on her
account

The profile itself may be corrupted. Do either of the other accounts
exhibit this behavior ? I would check the System Event log to see
if any entries related to profiles are listed.
Click Start, Run (Type) EventVwr.Msc [Enter]
Expand the System Event log and check for Errors/Warnings shown
as Red and Yellow icons.

Create a new account with the same privileges. Does it happen in that
account? If not it could be her account is corrupted. Copy the settings
from the old to the new and delete the old.
