USB2 On A7N8X-X Win XP

Dual boot setup: Win 2000 Pro SP4 and Win XP Pro SP1.
Installation of USB2 drivers in Win 2000 went automatically as part of the
NForce2 driver install off the supplied CD. Not so for Win XP!
When I installed the NForce2 drivers on the Win XP side (SP1 applied), I
noticed a second item on the menu, USB Drivers.
After installing the NForce2 drivers, I selected the USB Drivers option and
got a text readme referring to a two step process.
Step 1 is to install something called QFE, but no specific reference or
instructions are provided. There is no folder or file on the Asus CD with
QFE as all or part of the name.
Step 2 is to install the USB EHCI drivers, which I was able to do, thus
eliminating the yellow ?'s in device manager.
Result: I have USB functionality, but no indication that USB2 is installed.
Testing with an external USB2 CDRW confirms my suspicions. No USB2 speed.

What did I do wrong, and what should I do to correct the situation?

The text file says QFE (whatever that is) should be installed before EHCI,
but articles I've read in Google groups indicate that with XP Pro SP1, there
should be no need for "special" USB2 drivers.

Any ideas/advice gratefully accepted!

I do not think you are supposed to install the USB drivers on WXP...I
believe it uses the default drivers already in WXP

also, you may have to do a fresh install of WXP and SP1 and this time only
install the nforce drivers that install automatically. BTW are you using
the latest nforce drivers from the nvidia site?

The QFE stuff used to be updates, basically. I expect the QFE stuff they
are referring to is the USB 2 drivers in SP1.

Enhanced HCI is USB2
Standard HCI is USB1

I' have checked the version of the driver of the XP SP1 :
To find out whether you have the proper USB2 drivers check the following:
Version / File name
5.1.2600.1106 / Usbport.sys
5.1.2600.1106 / Usbhub.sys
5.1.2600.1106 / Hccoin.dll
5.1.2600.1106 / Usbehci.sys
thank's to André (rad in a previous post)
But the name of the driver is " USB OpenHCD standard" is it USB2 ???????,

Bye

Thanks, Ben!
I reinstalled, then plugged in the USB2 DVD+-RW.
This time, I got a pop up about a problem with USB2 Host, followed
quickly by "Windows is installing software for your hardware", then I
was able to burn a CDR at 16x (max for this drive). I assume that
USB1.1 would not have been capable of a 16x burn?

16*150kb/s ~2.3MBytes/s - considerably faster than the 1.5MByte/s (12Mbit/s)
of USB 1.1.
