USB Wireless LAN card drops connections

Hello all,

I'm posting a message on here in hopes of finding some
networking guru who might have an answer to a problem
that's been having me bang my head against walls.

Givens:

OS: Windows XP SP1
AMD Athlon XP 2200+
512MB Ram
ASUS A7N266-VM motherboard
40GB WD HDD
Blitzz Netwave Base II Access Point (802.11b)
Blitzz BWU613SB USB Wireless Adapter

Error Messages:

Event Log - System:
The system detected that network adapter USB Wireless LAN
Card #2 - Packet Scheduler Miniport was disconnected from
the network, and the adapter's network configuration has
been released.

Problem:
^^^^^^^^
I recently upgraded one of my computers from a Windows
98SE (P2-266) to a brand spankin new WinXP Pro AMD
machine. Previous to that I had purchased the AP and USB
adapter. While connected to the 98SE, my USB adapter
worked fantastic. No disconnects and approx. 80%
consistent signal strength.
After upgrading the computer, I reattached the USB device
and everything installed successfully. Everything was
working... at least as far as I can remember it worked.
After a week, I decided to let the computer run it's
usual windows updates and service packs.
All of a sudden, the USB device begins dropping
connections from the AP after about 30 seconds -> 1
minute after it finds the wifi signal.
So I run all driver updates for the mobo, usb card, and
anything else I could think of.
I realized at first that if I disable/reenable the lan
connection associated with it, that my connection would
again return for approx 30 seconds. During these 30
seconds I can ping (with no packet loss), I can surf and
I can do any normal network task.

I've checked the basics for IRQ conflicts but nope. I've
gone into safemode to remove dormant devices.. nope.
I've tried the USB adapter in another computer and it
works fantastic. Now I pray to the computer gurus to
come through for me.

Any info will be dearly appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

ask alt.wireless.internet, but it sounds like you need to turn off the
Wireless Zero Configuration service.
