Wireless Connection of Peripherals?

Guest

I have an existing wired and wireless (802.11g) network which provides the
boys computers shared access to the internet. I am rearranging my office
puting the USB printer and a new USB scanner on the credenza behind the
workstation. This new location will require USB cables at least 20' long,
which I don't feel is ideal.

Can I simply add USB 802.11g adapters to the printer and the scanner to
connect to my computer through the wireless router/hub? Once I configure the
wireless adapters to my network, will the OS recognize the perinter and
scanner, or what network configuration would need to be done?

Many thanks,

You can connect an 802.11g wireless print server to the printer. For
example:

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProd...=&Section_Id=201522&pcount=&Product_Id=165825
http://www.netgear.com/products/consumer/prod_printserver_wireless_hm.php
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Sate...289494&pagename=Linksys/Common/VisitorWrapper

The print server will come with instructions for how to get the
computers to print to the printer.

I don't know of any way to get a wireless connection for a scanner.

The maximum length for a USB cable is 16.4'. If you want to connect
at 20', use two shorter cables and place a powered USB hub between the
computer and printer/scanner.
