USB Root Hubs

As I have a USB device malfunctioning, could someone please confirm that if
I delete my USB root hubs, they will be automatically reconfigured by the
system after I reboot? I read this cure somewhere on the web but I don't
want to damage even more my system.

Confirmed. However, check your USB device on another PC first. It could
just be that your USB device really is on the blink. You don't say what it
is, but it is always possible that the driver has problems as well.

Thanks. This USB device is a ghost. I presently have no USB device at all
attached to my computer.

Thanks for this. Very helpful. It made appear the Bluetooth radios that
didn't appear before and I suspect the problem may be there, because I had a
message about an UGX device and also a new hardware found, a bluetooth
device that couldn't install properly. Searching on Google it seems UGX is
a Bluetooth device. Now that I have made appear, thanks to your help, those
bluetooth devices, I am not sure what I can do. There are 2 Microsoft
bluetooth enumerators and one USB bluetooth device. Checking their
properties, I find out that none of these 3 hardwares are presently
connected to my computer (code 45?).

This problem prevents my WiFi to find the networks, I am connected with a
cable.

For what it's worth, I follow the KB315539 procedure every other Sunday when
I do a complete system backup and general clean up. Eliminating the "Phantom
USB devices" seems to keep everything on the USB ports nice and tidy. (Touch
wood.)

Eliminating the "Phantom USB devices" seems to keep everything on the USBOf course, but I am not enough technically advanced to know what I can or
cannot eliminate without risk. I don't know if I can eliminate those 2
Microsoft Bluetooth enumerators and the USB Bluetooth device which don't
seem to be connected to my computer, according to their properties, without
damaging my system.

If the entries appear in grey rather than black I believe it's safe to
remove them. (At least that's what KB315539 says.)

I have put the show_hidden_devices in the registry of all my machines so I
can check the device tree as and when I wish without faffing about.
