I am running Windows XP Pro with 6 2.0 USB ports.. If I plug a 1.0
device into the back of the computer will it cause all the ports in the
back of computer to run at the lower speed? Or only the 1.0 device will
run at 1.0?

Only the device you plug in will work at that speed.
A USB mouse is a low speed device. Plugging it into a USB port does
not make all USB devices work at low speed.

Thank you John. I think I got my self confused, I was thinking about
plugging a 1.0 hub into port, which will slow down all 2.0 devices in hub.
