Dear Reader,

I own 2 brother printers, HL-1440 AND HL-1240. My problem is when I cold
boot my computer it doesn't recognize my printers. After the computer is
started, I unplug and replug the usb on the printers and windows
acknowledges the printers. The problem may have come about when I purchased
an usb 2.0 hub. I have no other problems with my other peripherals. Below
are all the troubleshooting steps I have taken:

1. Removed the hub

2. Delete and add the printers

3. Uninstall and reinstall the drivers

4. Change usb ports

5. Factory reset the printers

Any info would be appreciated. My operating system is Windows XP
Professional.

I have same problem with Sandisk micro cruzer. It's less troublesome
than your case since I have usb port on front panel. I don't use a hub
and Sandisk just said not to boot with it plugged in. My guess is
something to do with bios since friend's machine doesn't have similar
problem. Sorry, I don't have a fix.
