USB Logitech cam sphere not recognised by XP

Hi, I hope you can help

Yesterday my USB cam was working just fine
Today I got an errror message when i tried to use the cam saying it was not
connected
I removed the usb cam and replaced it in the usb port. XP came up with an
error message saying 'unknown device'
I replaced the cam in another port of my Belkin hub and it came up with
'unknown device'

I removed and reinstalled the cam driver, it's the most up to date. Still
the same error message

I connected my cam directly into a usb port on my base unit and XP still
didn't recognise my cam
I uninstalled all my usb hardware, including hub and rebooted for windows
to refind. Still the same error message and also there was a problem with
this device

I went to device manager and clicked on the unknown device. It says there
are no drivers for the USB host controller?????

So when i insert my usb cam in now i get a message saying 'unknown device'
when i click my unknown device i get a pop-up saying that its my usb host
controller that is the problem as it has no drivers
I went to the microsoft site and downloaded a patch for a usb controller
But i still get the problem with my cam not recognised but the details
saying my host controller has no drivers???
I have tried my cam in another pc and it is recognised and works fine
I did a system restore to the day when the cam was working but the cam is
still n ot recognised
I have SP1 installed and all the up to date drivers for my cam
I don't know what to do next
Can someone please help
TIA
Regards
Sheri

Sheri,

I am having similar problems and no one seems to have an answer. Did you solve the problem, if so, how?

Yes I did. It's the stalk that the cam mounts on. The connection seems a bit
dodgy. Just mount the sphere on the base or make sure the connection between
the stalk, base and cam is a good connection

Windows was trying to identify the base and was 'guesssing' that it was a
controller device :))

HTH
