USB Host Controller Gone with the Wind

I was having problems with a Kodak Printer Dock being recognized by Windows
XP Pro SP2 but not finding drivers (I tried every folder possible in Window,
including where they should be, the Kodak Printer Driver Folder) to no avail.
The USB recognized a flash 64 mb stick fine. I uninstalled the USB
controller in device manager, re-booted to see if it would auto find and
reload those drivers, but now I have the big yellow question mark that atays
no matter how long Windows searches for the drivers. I can't use the
original Win XP disk, becasue SP2 is on the system. Any sugestions, gang?
This is a Dell Dimension 8250, which, until about two weeks ago ran fine on
SP2 with properly running USB contollers. I have update via Windows update
consistently and have the most recent updates installed

Actually, to answer some of my own problems, I just did a system restore and
the USB Contoller is now there and recognized from earlier settings. Still
does not answer why Windows did not find the usbhub.sys drivers when the new
hardware search happened. They are in the
window\system32\drivers\usbhub.sys. I wonder if there is a fistful of old
drivers in there wreaking havoc.
