USB Serial Host controller gone

I reformated an HP with win 98 se and then loaded the printer drivers,
then I plugged in the printer to finish and couldnot get the usb ports
to read " anything ' even a mouse. I then went into device manager and
discovered that the USB host controller is not listed. Everything else
is working great , so what is the next step?

You installed Windows 98 or Windows XP. Since it sounds like you didn't
use the CD that HP provided for your computer, most likely you will need
to vist HP and download the correct drivers for your hardware.

You should post to a Win98 newsgroup. This one is for the XP OS. There are
a whole slew of Win98 newsgroups under microsoft.public.win98. I suggest
you try microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion. Web link for it here:
