USB Driver Problem

Hi, I had a problem with my USB, so uninstalled all the drivers, expecting it
all to reinstall using Plug & Play. It didn't!

I installed the OEM drivers, and it installed the following tree

Universal Serial Bus Controllers, Intel PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller,
USB 2.0 Root Hub.

It then detects and tries but fails to install Universal Serial Bus (USB)
Controller.

These show in hardware manager as unknown devices.

I am unable to get USB to recognise any devices.

A dialogue box asks where to look for drivers - I allow internet search. It
fails to find drivers.

I reinstalled Service Pack 2, but this does not fix the problem.

How can I obtain drivers/hotfixes

Many thanks.

Windows XP may not have the correct drivers for the chipset on the CD. You
need the driver disk for your motherboard's Intel chipset. The serial number
for the mainboard is on the first text screen when you boot up (lower
left-hand corner usually). Press the "Pause/Break" key when the text screen
first appears. Press "enter" to resume boot. It is also found on the
mainboard itself along the outer edge or in the center.

Mainboard driver sets can be downloaded from the mainboard manufacturer's
site.

This utility will identify which chipset you have.
