USB Device Recognition Problem

I purchased a 1 gig SanDisk Cruzer Titanium thunb drive about 3 weeks ago.
It worked fine until today. Suddenly, when plugged into any USB 2.0 socket
on my system, I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" message from Windows XP
and it won't work. I can't believe the thumb drive has failed already but
that may be the case. Any ideas or common experiences?

first you could see if its in Device Manager and assigning it a drive letter
or if like me the device will not appear then its the old XP mass storage
device problem (do a google and you will find out more)..........happened to
me and many others. A reinstall of windoz is one answer but if you don't
want to go through all that hassle then try downloading and using explorerxp
from http://www.explorerxp.com/

when I want to read my 512 drive this is my only way without the reload.
