USB and windows XP

My windows XP home edition desktop in not recognizing the USB flash drive,
camera, etc that i plug into on the front USB ports.

I honestly think there is nothing mechanically wrong with my pc USB ports.
WHat I have noticed is that when I have plugged in several different things
to these front ports, that these ports somehow 'remember' only the device
that worked there before and refuses to accept new devices (Flash drives,
camera, etc)

I dont know how else to word or describe this, but i have observed this on 2
other XP pc's. THen, I dont know what happens that those other pc's started
accepting devices once again.
ANy ideas or fixes. even the USB ports on the back of the machine do not
recognize my flash .

I would try going to Device Manager and expand USB Controllers , rt
click on each one and select Uninstall. Restart and let XP
reinstall them.

RIch, Thanks for your tip. I uninstalled each one and restarted. After a
while, i plugged in my 2 flash drives, and camera and neither was
recognized. My printer and my wireless adapter are the on ly things that
have been recognized. I may note that I did not unplug those devices
(printer & wireless adapter)when doing your troubleshooting.
What do you or anyone, think i can do next?
