USB 2.0 Problem

Hello,

my BIG problem: I would like to install a working Verbatim FireLite external HD on my Dell Notebook (win2000, SP4) via USB. The notebook does not recognize the external HD at all. I think it maybe the missing USB2 Enhanced Controller. My chipset is an intel 845MP - that for I do not find that USB2 Enhanced Controller.

Does anybody know how to solve my problem?
