USB 2.0 port problem when connecting to Mp3 player

I just purchased and installed a new mp3 player. the program was installed
correctly and it runs fine - but whenever i try to connect the cable from the
usb port to the player it recognizes it and then a blue error screen comes up
every single time and i need to restart -what do i do???
