USB 2.0 PC Card Driver Problems

F

Fred

Hello,

I recently purchased a USB 2.0 PC Card to upgrade my
laptop from its USB 1.1, and I am having a little trouble
installing it. I installed the drivers and the product is
working fine according to the Device Manager. But when I
plug a device, such as an External DVD Writer, it does
not detect it. I don't know why it doesn't detect
anything. I installed several different drivers, but
still no luck. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello
Have you downloaded and installed SP1 from MS Windows Update site for it
holds all the updated drivers to make a 2.0 USB device work correctly.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329632&Product=winxp

Visit MS Windows Update site and download all the critical updates, this is
for your security and safety.
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

Control Panel>Open System>Hardware>Device Manager>find the USB Controllers
then click the + sign and find one that says Enhanced USB Device or some
thing to that effect and double click it and update the drivers.

Hey,

I already installed sp1 and have the right drivers
installed also. I just bought a new usb pc card and it
worked perfectly. I think it is just the card that is
messed up. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

No, it didn't come with a power supply. Isn't it powered
by the computer?

Power provided via USB port may be not enough for external DVD.
Try to connect your DVD thru an USB2 hub with external power supply.
