URLs "stuck" in the autocomplete menu.

In the address bar of IE6, there are a number of URLs that
seem to be "stuck" in the autocomplete box. For example,
if I were to type "www.m", the autocomplete window would
open up with the option of jumping
to "www.microsoft.com". I've tried clearing my history,
temporary internet files, and autocomplete history, but
some of these URLs will remain in the autocomplete
database. I've even tried third-party programs like
Window Washer, yet still the problem persists.

I suspect this occurred when these urls were in my
history, and my computer messed up on me. As a result,
some of these urls could have been trapped in the Windows
registry or something. I don't know for sure, though.

I find the address bar autocomplete a very useful tool
when surfing, so I'd rather not turn it off. But this is
getting to be a real nuisance. I'd appreciate any help
anyone can give me. Thanks in advance.

AMD Athlon XP 1800+
Windows XP

Make sure you cleared your History properly.

Close all IE windows. Verify that iexplore.exe is no longer
running by using Task Manager's Processes tab.
(E.g. press Ctrl-Shift,Esc Ctrl-Tab, and I at least twice)

Clear your History using the Internet Properties tool.
(If you try to clear History with IE's Internet Options tool
some entries will remain in storage and be saved again.)
(Run... (press Win-R and enter:) control inetcpl.cpl)

Tried it. Didn't work. Thanks anyway, though.
