clear autocomplete - persistent

I have been unable to successfully clear the autocomplete history in IE6.
I've used the tools/options/clear history, cc cleaner, del typed urls, etc.
These work fine for most urls, but there are about four or five persistent
ones that won't clear - very frustrating. Also, they don't show up in
history, but if you search for them, they'll show - but it's not possible to
manually delete them like you can with other history items.

I can disable autocomplete, of course, but then I loose that functionality.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks Don,

This did the trick! It's interesting - I found that Smartprotector (regular
software) located and supposedly cleared the index.dat file in history, but
actually wasn't successful. The Free History Eraser, however, did the trick.
Odd. In any case, thanks for your help - much appreciated.

Hi,
These URLs are probably coming from the index.dat file in the History
folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
