How to clear autocomplete entries?

DL

Apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered.

Can anyone explain to me how to clear the list of URLs
which come up in the address bar? I have cleared my
history, but all this results in is that when I click the
down arrow in the address bar, now entries are shown.
However, as soon as I type a letter in the address bar, a
list of previously typed possible matches (or not even
typed -- the list even includes previously accessed pages).

I have also clicked on "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords"
in the Autocomplete settings of Internet Options, but this
does not fix my problem either.

Any suggesions greatly appreciated!

DL,
These are coming from the index.dat file in the History folder.
Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

Additional advice:
You might (or might not) want to turn off Autocomplete (inline) from Tools>
Options> Advanced and/or Options. Content> Autocomplete. I like inline
autocomplete, but not everyone does.

Hope this helps,
Don
