deleting previous Address bar entries

Jboss

I have done the below and still have address pull up when
I type in my address bar in MS Internet Explorer 6.0. When
I click the address and hit delete, it does not work! It
takes me to that address again! Some of the addresses
coming up are OLD OLD OLD. What am I missing?
Note:
I have the same problem when I go to the start menu and
use SEARCH for FILE or FOLDERS. It will not clear
previous searches. Even though I go to TASKBAR AND START
MENU PROPERTIES and select ADVANCED TAB and use the CLEAR
button...These same search histories I believe are coming
up in my address bar in MS Internet Explorer 6.0?!??

Here is the below I have done.

To delete Autocomplete entries from the Address bar list

The AutoComplete feature saves previous entries you've
made for Web addresses, forms, and passwords. To delete
entries from the Address bar, you must clear your History
folder. You cannot clear individual entries from the list
of saved entries.
On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet
Options.
Click the General tab.
Under History, click Clear History.
Notes
When typing information in Web forms, and typing
passwords, you can remove an item from the list of
suggestions by clicking the item and then pressing the
DELETE key.

Jboss,
Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).
[example]
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"
