Autocomplete deletion in address bar doesn't work

Hello, as instructed by MS-IE help pages. I delete the
history in the Tools menu (general tab) and it is supposed
to delete all histories when typing addresses in the
address bar. This used to work it seems but now no longer
does. When I click the address bar down arrow I see no
addresses there. But when I type an address, the
autocomplete feature tries to suggest sites that were
previously hit. The IE help says that feature is cleared
and reset when you clear history but it's not happening.
My Internet Explorer version is 6.0.2800.1106. Any help
would help.

You probably have a corrupted History folder. Delete the damaged History
folder- a new one will be created on restart.
