Upgrading to Access 2003

Hi.
Is it possible to upgrade the database programme in MS Works to Access 2003?
What CD would I need? Is there just one CD to upgrade to any application
within Office 2003, or is it application specific?

Franc,
A Works APPLICATION will not "convert" to Access.
But, your Works DATA can be imported into Access.
Export your Works data as a .txt, .csv, or .dbf , and import it into Access.

What CD would I need?

Not sure what you mean... Access comes included in the Office Professional Edition,
or...can be purchased separately.

It says on the Microsoft website that MS Works qualifies for the upgrade to
MS Access 2003. I wasn't sure how it would work.
With the CD question, I was wondering if there were different upgrades for
the separate applications within MS Office, or whether it was one disc for
any application upgrade?
Any thoughts?

That means MS Works qualifies you to install the (less expensive) upgrade
version. But you'd have to check with local or online retailers and/or
Microsoft to see how to obtain an upgrade version of Access 2003 (if one is
available -- I'm sure there are available upgrade versions for the Office
2003 Suite).

You can obtain a CD/DVD that includes all of various editions of Office...
the Professional Edition includes Access, but "lesser" editions do not; you
can also obtain Access 2003 as a separate product.

You say that it qualifies for the upgrade, but I'm not sure what it will be
upgraded to? Would it be Office 2003, for instance, in that case, if you
have the MS Office 2003 Professional upgrade, would that give upgrade the MS
Works suite to MS Office 2003 professional therefore giving you Access 2003?

Oh, my... I don't even try to keep up with all the editions of Office and
Office software that Microsoft offers, nor their licensing terms and
conditions. If Works qualifies you for an upgrade to Office, that would most
likely include Office Pro on the top end, and Office Standard on the lower
end (Office Standard does not include Microsoft Access).

I'm reasonably sure that Office 2003 Professional does have an upgrade
edition, and, yes, it does include Access 2003. On the other hand, if there
is an upgrade edition of the separate Access 2003 product, it would be less
expensive than the upgrade edition of Office 2003 Pro (but, of course, would
not have Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
