Upgrading from NT Server 4.0 to Win2k Server question

We will be upgrading our NT 4.0 PDC to a Win2k DC. Our domain currently is
called NETMIC. I know that we have to choose a new name using the dot com
naming convention. I've read that if we own a registered domain name that
we should use that. We have one, our website uses it, but we don't host the
website. Our LAN is behind a firewall. We are also going to make this
Win2k DC the DNS server. Obviously, the internal IP address of the server
does not resolve to our website. So, I'm assuming we should NOT use our
website domain name. Can we name the new 2000 DC anything we want, as long
as it ends in dot com?

Hope I explained this ok! Thanks in advance for any/all replies.

Naming suggestions:

Your registered domain is mycompany.com
AD name = Corporate.mycompany.com
or mycompany.loc or (pri)

Using one of the above will eliminate problems getting to your website.

Naming your AD domain the same as your registered domain will just require
you to set up a www record in DNS pointing to your website. You *can* use it
you just have to know what you are doing.
