Im looking to upgrade 12 machine from WIN 98 to XP pro,
me question is what would be the easest way to go about
doing this? All PC's will meet mininum requierments.

Look at buying a corporate license to run Windows XP. The install CD is
special and apparently does not need to do the Windows Activation request.

Also, I would recommend that you do a "clean" install. This will correct
any Windows 98 problems, since during the upgrade it is possible that the
problem gets "bumped up" into XP.

I guess I would recommend you keep it simple. Buy 12 upgrade CD's (or
get a deal for multiple copies from vendor or Microsoft). Just run the
upgrade CD process on each. This applies all the right changes to the
installed software to make it all work. Try on out one or two machines,
and if ok, rip through remaining machines. Keep it simple. Let the
software do the work.

It is very unlikely that system problems in the WIn98 will move forward,
because almost everything in the system is replaced in an upgrade. So
do at least one experimental upgrade in the first instance. A volume
license (which is the way to go) may imply a full version CD (but still
be cheaper - and more convenient - than 12 separate upgrade ones), these
will still do an upgrade if run from existing systems
