Upgrading Belken 4-port USB hub to Belken 7-port high speed USB hub

I have a Belken 4 port hub installed and have purchased a new Belken 7 port
high speed hub. Can I simply power down, swap out the 4 port hub, reconnect
the cables to the 7 port hub and turn power back on. Or must I de-install
the old hub before installing the new one? I am running XP service pack 2.
Any help would be appreciated.

Because Belkin 7-port USB hubs are just that. They are not network
connection devices. Not that I would have known either if I hadn't
looked it up.
Who would have thought? ;)

| You should be able to just swap them out. Yet I must ask, why a
hub and
| not a router/switch?

Because the 7-port hub is all that I need and as Mungo points out, it is
likely a router.

hubs and switches may be interchangeable. however, switches work better
than hubs and are faster.

on the other hand a router can assign IP address (if it has DHCP enabled).
a hub or a switch cannot do this on its own.

to answer the question on the thread, yes, you can just unplug the old and
replace it with the new.

hope this helps.

regards!
