Upgraded to WinXP - now can't scan properly

Hi everyone, you lot are my last resort! I've recently
updated to WinXP and now I can't get a decent scan from my
HP OfficeJe Pro 1150C - I use this to scan jewellery that
I make - and it worked well until I upgraded. On screen
the scan looks fine, so the mechanics seem to be working,
but when I print the scan or upload it to the web the
background looks really dark, even though on screen it's
fine - I can't seem to get it right. It scans fine and the
pic looks great but I can't seem to get rid of the
darkness - this didn't happen before I upgraded to WinXP
so I was wondering if anyone else had had the same
problem. Really hoping one of you might be able to help.

Did you go to the HP web site and see if they had XP drivers for your
scanner?
