Upgrade Win 98 to Win XP Problems with Router, etc.

Julie

I am having difficulty with my internet connections on my
home computer since I've upgraded to Win XP from Win 98.
Prior to the upgrade, I was sharing a cable modem via a
Linksys wired - router. In addition, I was using IE6 and
AOL 9.0 prior and both worked fine. Currently, I am
sharing the cable modem via the router, but now I cannot
use IE 6. Only AOL works now. I have contacted,
Linksys, AOL, and Comcast (my ISP) and no one can help.
Does anyone have any idea what my problem is here?
I have disabled the ICS and ICF feature on that
connection - still does not work.
Thanks.

Julie,

Can you describe in more detail what problem you're having? What are you doing,
and what problem are you seeing?

Provide ipconfig information for your computer, when connected to the internet.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.

From a command window:
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

From your browser (IE):
3) Browse www.yahoo.com.
4) Browse 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
