Can't connect to the Internet with router setup test.

I have tried to setup a Linksys router between my PC's Lan card and my cable
modem using the setup disk provided by linksys. I use AOL 9.0 to log onto the
Internet. I have no problem without the router, but cant connect when the
router is in the loop. I have Windows firewall 'On" and only see my LAN card
as a network connections If I turn the Windows firewall "OFF" the I see the
router in my netwrk connections. but still can't connect to the Internet. I
don't understand the problem between the router/firewall. Should DHCP only
run on the router or on the one hardwired PC? Any help is greatly
appreciated. Thanks
