Upgrade version

The MS website says that Win2K is a viable upgrade to Win XP Pro. We tried
and failed. The local computer shop swears it can't be done. The computer in
question had Win 2k Pro SP4 on it. The upgrade version was XP Pro. The
computer had the OEM version of 2k on it. We later clean-installed the
upgrade version without problem. What say you about upgrading from Win 2k
SP4?

Since the local computer shop doesn't know what it's talking about, I
suggest you take your business elsewhere.

A retail upgrade version, not an OEM version? OEM versions can't do upgrades
of any kind.

When you say you "tried and failed," please explain *exactly* what happened
when you tried, including the exact verbatim text of any error message you
received.

How odd.

Clean installs are preferabe, especially in a system with Software
Issues. But i can't see any reason that an honest shop would tell you
it's impossible to upgrade.
