Upgrade to XP Pro from ME freezes with 17 minutes left

Hello;
My computer freezes on 17 minutes left - but the XP info
that shows the new features on the right hand of the
screen keep changing. I cant do anything with the
keyboard, mouse, etc. I restarted a bunch of times but the
process keeps getting frozen on 17 minutes left. Is there
any way that I can revert back to ME or just do anything
to get my computer working again? The help is very much
appreciated. Thanks.

DON'T UPGRADE.

I don't know anyone who has had any success doing that.

Do a clean install.

Backup all your data first.

you will have to reinstall all SW and settings but in the long run you
will be MUCH happier.

Nonsense. *Many* people have been successful upgrading.

Upgrades to XP *usually* work very well. My recommendation is to
try an upgrade (since it's much easier), but to be prepared to
change your mind and clean install if problems develop (they
probably won't). There's little to be lost by at least trying.
