Upgrade to Win XP from Win 2000

After running the installation upgrade, PC boots to a
balck screen that says "Please Wait" with a Windows Logo.
Unfortunately, I wait forever.

Any thoughts?
 
Which reboot is this? The first one after fily copy (blue screen text mode)
or did it finish the installation? Was anything else running on the machine
prior to starting the upgrade like antivirus?
 
Once the install tab was selected, the message would pop
up. I am not sure if the person that was doing the
upgrade turned off the antivirus program.
