upgrade login problem

I've recently upgraded from 98SE to 2000Pro on my home PC.
It automatically transferred my username over and assigned
to be an administrator. However when I go to log in as i
would for 98, I get the error message:

"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name
and domain are correct then type your password again.
Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case.
Make sure that Caps Lock is not accidentally on."

I'm positive that the password's being entered correctly.
Is there a domain name or a suffix or something that 2000
adds to the username during the setup process even if the
PC its installed on isn't on a network?

If it comes to it, would I be able to uninstall 2000
without reformatting the drive it's on?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Try typing Administrator in the user blank and leave the password entry
"blank".
