Yes I am niave but is there a way of upgrading with out the loss of data
installed while using windows 2003. I back the Apps/data/system status, and
when upgrading (recomended) I changed installation directory to window Vs.
windows. Can I use the w2k3 reg or something?

There is no upgrade path from Windows Server 2003 to
Windows XP Professional. A "clean install" is required
if you wish to install XP Pro. If you attempt to install
XP Pro in the same partition as Windows Server 2003,
you'll likely end up with a very corrupt system.
