Upgrade from Windows ME to XP - Home Edition

I have upgraded as above and am having difficulty with a couple issues:

1) My printer - HP PSC 500 Printer-Scanner-Copier - is printing pages from
back to front although the Printing Preferences for both the Printer and the
Application have Front to Back as the selection.

2) Every once in a while the HP PSC 500 Printer and Scanner Wizard says the
computer cannot detect the printer or scanner and to make sure the device is
turned on and is properly connected to the computer. At other times it works
great.

For some reason, it seems that if I uninstall the printer and scanner and
then re-install, all will work o:k for a while; then suddenly it won't. Can
you help me here; I'm wondering if there is something to do with the driver
connection at the back of the processor.

Many thanks for helping me. My computer is a Dell Dimension 4100 series,
Pentium 111 Processor at 933 MHZ and with 256 MB of SDRAM at 133 MHZ.

My HP Photosmart 7450 is also printing back-to-front. It was newly installed
on a XP Home SP2 machine, although the pc had earlier been upgraded from
Win98. We've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on our two networked
machines but it still prints back-to-front.

I need a fix for this too!

Have you gone to HP's web site and downloaded and installed the Windows XP
drivers for that printer?
