Upgrade from Win 98 to XP home ed, Norton not working

My norton anti virus won't run. even though i'm the only
user & have admin privileges, XP won't allow me to
uninstall & reinstall Norton. norton gives me an error
1606 - could not access network location
please help

You should have uninstalled Norton before trying to upgrade to XP. Go into
Add/Remove software and uninstall XP and go back to 98; uninstall Norton,
install XP; forget about re-installing Norton.
