Error 1606:Could not access network location\Documents and settings\all users\desktop" is what I see when I try to uninstall norton anti virus. I just upgraded from ME to XP Pro. I did not unistall norton before the upgrade, I just disabled it. Apparently norton suggests that it be uninstalled. Now I cannot uninstall norton. I cannot reinstall norton. Norton does not work. Any suggestions

Hi Eric I have just done the same thing,I went to the Norton site where I found and ran a symtec Norton ant virus removal utility (Rnav2003.exe) which will remove Norton safely from your system.I also followed the sugestions for removing all Norton registry keys.If all else fails why not go back to your original operating sytem which is quit easy with xp and then remove Norton before reinstalling Xp....I have added the link to the Norton site

A simple solution to the problem:

Windows XP Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utilit
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en
us;24011

On the page there are two downloads one is msiexec.exe
forWin98 the other msicuu.exe for Win 2000 and NT, this
one also works for WIN XP
After installing follow the instructions and to reinstall
your new program just remove all reference to the old one
or the one you want to upgrade from

this will really help
