I run Windows XP on my PC & have just upgraded my Norton Anti Virus to 2007.

Jeez, my PC has practically stopped working it is so slow.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas to resolve?

Many thanks

Nothing new here except the 2007 version. Complaints like this have been around since NAV
2005.

Does your system meet the minimum requirements to run NAV 2007?
Did you uninstall any previous version first as required by Symantec?
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...06&nsf=nav.nsf&view=docid&seg=hho&lg=en&ct=us

or if the link breaks: http://snipurl.com/wj0v

If all of the above was done, is proper and performance is still bad, uninstall
NAV 2007 and get a different av app.

To say the least, I'm very disappointed in Symantec and McAfee as AV
solutions. Problems such as this and, even worse, the SonyBMG fiasco are
only a couple reasons why. I've started migrating my machines and
recommending F-Secure. You might take a look.

Good luck in solving your NAV problems.

The problem is Norton Antivirus. Uninstall it and watch your PC regain
it's lost speed.

NAV is shite. Write down 1000 times "I must not buy Norton or Symantec
software."

NOD32, faster than NAV, better at catching "in the wild" viruses. I just
bought a brand new AMD Athlon 64 3800+ system for my father-in-law last
week. Removed the "60-day demo" NAV and installed a 2-year NOD32 license and
the system response time improved DRAMATICALLY.

I swore off NAV over a year ago after an automatic virus definition update
rendered my computer unbootable off the hard drive (it trashed the boot
tracks). That was fun to wake up to in the morning over coffee. ;-)

Good luck.

| Hi,
|
| This is an all to common problem with Norton and McAfee products.
|
| The best advise is to dump Norton and find another solution.

Not the McAfee Enterprise products nor the Symantec Enterprise products.
Just the Retail products :-(

Hi David,

I will agree with you on Norton Enterprise but have no personal experience with
McAfee Enterprise.

Then you will have to trust me that McAfee Enterprise v4.5.1, v7.x and v8.0i are NOTHING
like their Retail cousins.
