Error 1606

I'm running XP-Home that was upgraded from WinMe. I just uninstalled
some software. Now when I try to install or uninstall anything, I get
the error:

Error 1606: Could not access network location "::\Documents and
Settings\default\SendTo".

I found several posting related to error 1606, such as
315352
But these seem to apply to the Admin Tools folder and be slightly
different than my problem. I'm pretty sure I need to edit/fix the
registry, but I'm at a loss as to what needs to be modified.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Tom,

Did it happen to be Palm software that you uninstalled? Reason I ask is that
I recalled some time ago assisting someone who was receiving the same error
message, and they, too, had recently upgraded from ME to XP and were having
troubles with uninstalling/reinstalling software such as Palm desktop. I
located the thread in the web-based forum of which I was a member at the time
(my username was GretaP at that forum):

I hope this helps!
