Installer Error 1606 - Different Problem

WinXP Pro SP3

First, YES I have read all the related posts hit by a search.

Second, YES I have read KB 886549 'You receive an "Eror 1606" error message
when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program'

I have verified all "User Shell Folder" data is correct, IAW KB article.

From other support I also verified "Shell Folders" entries.

The installs for 2 applications get the following msg dialog, this is an
EXACT QUOTE:

Error 1606. Could not access network location :.

end-quote

Note that there is nothing after "network location" except " :."

All the hits on search for this problem have something specific after
"network location"

So, any ideas?

....there should be.....

Recent REG_EXPAND_SZ %USERPROFILE%\Recent

Problem, the "Recent" entry keeps disappearing when I reboot my home PC.
