Upgrade existing user profile after install SP2 on a Windows XP SP

I upgrade Windows XP Pro SP1 with SP2 with an administrator account
After, i copy the current user profile in the default user : it is okfor the
new users
But, how i do to upgrade existing user's profile ?
I can not copy the default user profile into the existing user's profiles,
it doesn't work

Never worked in SP1 either, or XP no SP, or 2000 or NT. Default User
profile has always been purely for newly created profiles.

If you're talking basics like desktop shortcuts you can always play with
the "all user" profile if you don't mind one person deleting things
affecting everyone else, but anything much more complex you're going to
have probs with (eg. I wouldn't suggest copying the profile you're
trying to make over the top of the all user profile because one person
changes what is there it'll affect everyone. Best off re-creating all of
them from scratch if you're making any substantial changes).
