updating windows

Whenever I try to update windows through the microsoft
update I get the following message: IEXPLORE caused and
invalid page fault in module winspool.drv..... It hangs at
66% and gives me that error message. Does anyone know
what I can do to update windows98? I talked to my virus
scan people and they told me it was very important to
update windows...
