updates don't 'take'

I've just managed to clean my machine of the Sasser virus. After a Windows Update and a reboot of the machine, Update indicates the same updates need to be applied. It's as though the updates don't take, or aren't saved

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Prevent Windows Update from prompting you to install a Hotfix
you know is already installed:
