Update Manager

We just purchased a new computer with Windows XP - currently in the process
of setting it up. We are receiving an error that Update Manager has an old
version of the agent installed and advised to go to
http://consumer.installshield.com for more info. Why we would have an old
version installed on a brand new computer is beyond me. I am not familiar
with this software - it is safe to download the new version?

Update Manager is not part of Windows XP. It is probably provided by
whoever built your machine. Dell, Gateway, etc.

About the Update Manager

I never heard of it before.
