Update icon stuck in systray

After upgrading to media player 10 succesfully I've got an
inert windows update icon stuck in my systray that I can't
get rid of. When I put the curser over it it
says "downloaded 0%". Otherwise I can't right or left
click on it or even see it in the start up folder. How can
I get rid of this thing ?

Either use the msconfig.exe tool on the startup tab, or
try this handy tool; http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
then look for program related to your issue, uncheck it.

I have the same problem, also after the media player
upgrade; Windows Update doesn't show up in the StartupCPL
application... however, I did change the systray icon
status to "always hide" by changing the toolbar
properties... it icon is gone now but am I masking a
problem?
