R icon in systray

I have recently acquired a new icon in the systray: an upper-case R. It
was never there before and I would like to get rid of it. Double-clicking
the icon produces a window called Current Connections. The greyed-out
text in the window says 'No Connection'. Can anyone explain what this is
and how to turn it off?

Hi Don,

What do you get when you right click it?

To find out what it is, use msconfig .

Use the startup tab to isolate it.

Nothing appears on either left or right click. The window appears when I
double click on the icon. I have tried various things with msconfig. After
various trials I discovered the R didn't appear on bootup when I allowed all
startup items to load, but cancelled loading of System Services. I am really
baffled. I can't find an obvious culprit in Services. I could eliminate
them one by one, but that's going to take a long time (there are so many).

It seems that is Radmin (Remote Administrator) icon,
http://www.radmin.com/

If yes -- then someone can work at your computer from the remote
computer, or see from there what are you doing (by remote watching your
screen).

"No connection" means that nobody is connected to your computer this
moment. Otherwise you will see the IP address of the remote computer.

I have never installed Radmin, but you set me off on the right path. It
seems that I had a trojan which had installed a file called admdll.dll in the
Windows\System directory, also another version of userinit.exe. Radmin uses
a file called admdll.dll I discovered. The fact that I had a file of this
name on the system, and had never installed Radmin gave a clue that something
was wrong. I had used Spybot S&D only a couple of days ago, but it failed to
find anything. They know about it now because the latest updates
successfully found and eliminated it (eight files were associated with the
trojan).

Thanks for your help (and a big thank you to Spybot)
