Update alerts

I keep getting an update alert that asks if I want to install the new version
of the software. It doesn't say what software it's referring to, and it
doesn't matter if you press 'yes' or 'no' because nothing happens either way.
The alert will disappear only to reappear minutes later. How do i get rid of
this? Thanks.

Sounds like a virus to me. What is the name of your anti-virus software?
When's the last time you did a full system scan using that software?
