I have Windows XP SP3 on a basic Intel core2 duo system and have sounds that
I can't turn off. Whenever I scroll up and down through a window, regardless
of the application, I get a small background noise through my speakers, like
a chirping or squeeking. This also happens when I drag a Window around the
screen, although at a different frequency and sounds more like shuffling a
deck of cards. This happens whether I scroll with the mouse or the keyboard
(both USB). I have ALL sounds turned off through Control Panel, so there
shouldn't be any sounds at all. I have tried bypassing the USB hub and
pluged the mouse directly into the PC, but that made no difference. I am at
a point now where I have to turn off my speakers except for when I actually
want to listen to something. Any clues? Thanks.
