After installing a windows update I now get an unwanted screen at startup
when I click on my user icon. The screen is a windows screen that says "What
do you want to do?" It lists several options like install windows xp and
more.

How do I get rid of this screen?

Eject the Windows XP CD..
(Or at least that ios what it sounds like.. heh)
There might be a possibility that the i386 (or some similar directory) that
your original equipment manufacturer put on your computer is being "started"
at logon. Check your startups..

Start -> Run -> MSCONFIG -> Startup tab
See if there is anything there that might account for it. Do not remove it
using MSCONFIG - but note where it is and remove it manually.
